PRESS RELEASE – June 2019

Sorry for leaving it so long everybody !

When I left the World Supersport Championship in 2018 I really had no idea that just a year later I would be standing on top of the Superstock podium at Oschersleben as part of the FIM Endurance World Cup winning team.

So much has happened in between, and I have so many people to thanks that it’s difficult to put it all into words. Of course, I must give huge thanks to my team, Moto Ain for giving me such a fantastic opportunity and to all my team-mates. I must also thank Yamaha for helping me get the ride.

There have been plenty of Great moments and podiums this season and, hopefully, still some more to come.

Thanks, too, to my personal sponsors who have helped me throughout my career.

When we took second place at Le Mans it was my first podium finish in a World Championship event. To be honest, we were struggling a little bit with outright speed at Oschersleben and the last hour of the race was the most nervous I have ever been at race.

When we got up on the podium we still didn’t know if we’d won the World Cup and when it was confirmed it was pretty emotional.

Although we have clinched the title there is plenty more racing to come before the end of the year.

I am really looking forward to the Suzuka 8 Hour, probably the most prestigious endurance race in the World. The bike I’ll be riding has already won the Superstock class there and I can’t thank Yamaha enough for giving me the chance to race it.

Here’s to another first in Japan!
